Tue, 23 December 2008 ![]() Scrutiny - What is it and why is it important? Parliament has engaged in scrutiny for years through its Select Committees. Local Authorities are meant to be doing the same thing - and should have been doing so since 2001 - however performance has been patchy to say this.
